Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has partnered with Semikron Danfoss Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG to develop a new standard package for power semiconductor modules featuring integrated 3-level circuits. The solution is intended for use in industrial drive equipment and renewable energy systems, where demand for efficient power conversion technologies continues to grow.
The newly developed package combines key elements of Mitsubishi Electric’s LV100 high-power package and Semikron Danfoss’s SEMITRANS20 platform. By optimizing terminal configurations and functionality for 3-level circuit applications while maintaining compatibility across both companies’ products, the package is designed to simplify inverter development and support greater standardization in system design.
As industries worldwide advance their decarbonization and Green Transformation (GX) initiatives, demand for power semiconductors capable of improving energy efficiency continues to rise. In industrial applications, 3-level circuit architectures are gaining traction due to their ability to deliver higher efficiency and support more compact system designs compared to conventional 2-level circuits.
To address these evolving requirements, Mitsubishi Electric and Semikron Danfoss have developed a new package featuring a 3-level T-type circuit configuration. The design is intended to enhance inverter performance while enabling more compact equipment layouts. In addition, the optimized placement of main electrode and auxiliary control terminals provides greater flexibility for inverter developers, helping simplify system design and integration.
