Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT, Electronics and Human Resource Development, Shri Nara Lokesh is scheduled to inaugurate SAEL’s 600 MW solar power projects in YSR Kadapa district on May 22, marking a significant development in the state’s renewable energy landscape. The projects, identified as SAEL Solar MHP1 and SAEL Solar MHP2 together represent 600 MW of installed solar capacity and have reportedly been developed with an investment of nearly ₹3,000 crores. Publicly available reports indicate that the integrated solar facility spans more than 2,400 acres in Kadapa district.
According to publicly reported information, the two projects comprise 300 MW capacity each and commenced commercial operations earlier this year. Electricity generated from the facilities is expected to be supplied to the national grid under a long-term power purchase arrangement.

Reports indicate that the projects deploy more than 1.2 million bifacial solar modules and were developed under SAEL’s integrated engineering, procurement, construction and operations framework. The facilities are also expected to contribute towards emissions reduction and support local economic activity in the region.
The inauguration comes as Andhra Pradesh continues to focus on expanding renewable energy capacity and attracting investments in clean energy infrastructure. Industry observers view large-scale solar developments as important to strengthening grid-scale renewable energy generation and supporting India’s broader energy transition goals.
SAEL has stated that the projects form part of its broader renewable energy expansion strategy in India.
