Kemira is set to make a multi-million-euro investment to expand multiple production lines for strength chemical agents at its Wellgrow site in Thailand. Scheduled to begin in 2026, the expansion is expected to be operational by August of the same year. This strategic move aims to strengthen Kemira’s position as the leading producer and supplier of pulp, paper and board chemicals in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market, catering to the growing demands of the Southeast Asian and Indian markets.

Strength agents play a crucial role in enhancing the mechanical properties of various paper and board products. Kemira’s advanced strength technology not only improves material efficiency and product durability but also supports sustainable practices by reducing water usage and minimizing environmental impact. By replacing older technologies, customers can achieve higher productivity while meeting eco-friendly standards.

“To further strengthen our leading position in APAC, we are expanding our production in Thailand for future growth. The Asian pulp and paper market is growing among the fastest globally, and this investment will enhance our capabilities to provide cutting edge, sustainable chemical technology to serve our customers,” said Harri Eronen, EVP Packaging & Hygiene Solutions, Kemira.

After the expansion, the Wellgrow site that is strategically located near Bangkok Airport and the Port of Bangkok will have an estimated annual capacity of approximately 100,000 tons. The site’s operations are supported by Kemira’s global and regional expert teams with strong research and innovation capabilities.
