KPIT Technologies has entered into a strategic partnership with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) to accelerate the development of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

This collaboration is designed to drive innovation, enable faster deployment of new product features, and deliver cost efficiencies by leveraging KPIT’s deep expertise in mobility technologies. As part of its global digital transformation strategy, Mercedes-Benz is significantly expanding its software development capabilities.

The initiative focuses on building a unified software architecture to enhance vehicle performance, elevate user experiences, and streamline operational efficiency. By prioritizing software-led innovation, Mercedes-Benz aims to continuously deliver new features and updates, ensuring its vehicles remain technologically advanced throughout their lifecycle.

The collaboration is expected to redevelop the technological framework of future vehicle generations, stated KPIT, a software development and integration partner to the automotive and mobility ecosystem.

KPIT Technologies CEO Kishor Patil said, “With over 100 years of legacy, Mercedes-Benz is an inspiration for excellence, luxury, and customer centricity. KPIT is delighted to be partnering with MBRDI in their pursuit of software excellence, digital innovation, and rearchitecting the automotive tech stack for Software-Defined Vehicles.

“Our strategy is to work closely with a select group of clients and help them address complex business challenges through cutting-edge technology. We are committed to accelerating innovation, drawing from decades of experience and insights from numerous mobility transformation programmes.”

KPIT has engineering centres in Europe, the US, Japan, China, Thailand, and India.

Earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz reported a 7% year-over-year decline in deliveries for the first quarter of 2025 (January to March), with combined car and van sales totaling 529,200 units, down from 568,400 during the same period last year.

The decline was primarily driven by weakened demand in key markets, including China and Europe.

Additionally, battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales fell by 10%, with 45,500 units sold compared to 50,500 in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
